Dominique Berod, PhD

Dominique Berod is responsible for WMO activities on water, cryosphere, and ocean monitoring and information systems, supporting national hydrological services and other organizations in developing and operating measurement networks and information systems with innovative approaches. He also liaises with UN and non-UN international organizations, river basin commissions, and regional bodies. Before joining WMO in 2016 he was the senior expert for water, cold regions, and disasters at the GEO Secretariat, and from 2008 to 2014 he served as Head of the Hydrology division of the Swiss Federal Office of the Environment. He holds a Master’s in Environmental Engineering and a Ph.D. in Hydrology from the Swiss Institute of Technology at Lausanne.
