These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the GEOGLOWS website, applications, and data services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and process information when you use the Services. By using the Services, you acknowledge that policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Services only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

3. Accounts and security

If you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity that occurs under your account, and you agree to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. Data and content

GEOGLOWS provides open hydrological data and forecasts for public benefit. Subject to these Terms, you may access, use, and redistribute GEOGLOWS data, and we ask that you attribute GEOGLOWS as the source. Any content you submit to us remains yours, but you grant GEOGLOWS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it for the purpose of operating and improving the Services. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this license.

5. Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

  • access another user’s account or impersonate any person or organization;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Services or supporting infrastructure;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data;
  • reverse engineer or misuse the Services except as permitted by law;
  • upload malicious code or unlawful, infringing, or harmful content; or
  • use the Services for any illegal purpose.

6. Ownership and license

The Services, including their software, design, and branding, are owned by GEOGLOWS and its partners and are protected by applicable laws. Except for open data made available under the terms above, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Services for their intended purpose. The Services and data are provided for informational purposes and are not a substitute for professional judgment or official warnings.

7. Trademarks

“GEOGLOWS” and related names and logos may not be used without our prior written permission. Other names and logos are the property of their respective owners, and their appearance does not imply endorsement.

8. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use it without restriction or obligation to you, and you agree it is provided on a non-confidential basis.

9. Third-party content and services

The Services may reference or link to third-party content, tools, and data. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party materials, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

10. Disclaimers

The Services and all data are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. GEOGLOWS does not warrant that the Services or data will be accurate, complete, reliable, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. Streamflow forecasts and simulations are model outputs and carry inherent uncertainty.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GEOGLOWS and its partners and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Services or data.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GEOGLOWS, its partners, and contributors from any claims or expenses arising out of your use of the Services, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to the Services and Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Services, in whole or in part, at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; when we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
