Dr. Chinmay Deval is a Water Security Thematic Lead at the SERVIR Science Coordination Office, a joint NASA-USAID program that applies Earth observations and predictive models to support environmental decision-making. He holds a PhD in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Idaho and was previously an Utrecht Excellence Scholar at Utrecht University, where he earned a Master of Science in Water Science and Management. His work focuses on improving the understanding of how land management strategies affect water quantity and quality using hydrologic models and Earth observation datasets, and on developing data-driven tools to guide environmental decision-making.
